Cedar Fence - Western Red Cedar - Northern White Cedar
Cedar fencing has a deserved reputation. Cedar is strong, beautiful, and aromatic. The special qualities of cedar make this an exceptional choice of wood for your fence. Cedar heartwood, which is located in the center of the wood, is colored reddish or pinkish brown to dull brown. The sapwood, located towards the outer part of the tree, is nearly white. Western red cedar has straight grains with a uniform but coarse texture. Shrinkage is low, which means that the shape of the boards doesn’t change much. Cedar's unique aroma comes from naturally occurring thujaplicins in its heartwood. These compounds resist moisture and are toxic to decay-causing fungi and insects and preserve the wood to give it long lasting appeal.

Cedar Fence – Natural Beauty
Cedar wood is a renewable resource. There are issues with pressure treated wood, because the chemicals used to pressure treat wood are toxic to people, animals, and the earth. Pressure treated wood is becoming a problem for our landfills, as the toxins in this wood must be handled with care. Natural wood that is installed and maintained correctly has a very long life. In addition to long life, the beauty of natural wood requires only a transparent or semi-transparent stain. The good looks of cedar will enhance your home and property for many years to come.
