Cypress Fence - Cypress Wood
Cypress fencing is a great option. Cypress wood is strong, beautiful, and has a subtle aroma. The special qualities of cypress make this an exquisite choice of wood for your fence. Cypress heartwood has great color variation. It ranges from light yellowish brown to dark brownish red, brown, and chocolate. The sapwood color is nearly white. Cypress wood is straight-grained. Shrinkage is moderately low but somewhat higher than cedar, and cypress resists warping. The oil in cypress heartwood, cypressene, make cypress one of the most durable woods when exposed to insects and moisture conditions causing decay.

Cypress Fence – Natural Beauty Cypress wood is a renewable resource. There are issues with pressure treated wood, because the chemicals used to pressure treat wood are toxic to people, animals, and the earth. Pressure treated wood is becoming a problem for our landfills, as the toxins in this wood must be handled with care. Natural wood that is installed and maintained correctly has a very long life. In addition to long life, the beauty of natural wood requires only a transparent or semi-transparent stain. The good looks of cypress will enhance your home and property for many years to come. | |
