Post Pounder Video

Our crew is pounding a post for horse fence using a side-mounted post pounder.

The post is eight feet, pounded three feet into the ground, for a five-foot fence.  Note that we check for level installation for every post.

This post is for a four board horse fence.  The same post could be used for any livestock fence, including three board fence and mesh with top rail.

Pounding Posts vs. Auguring Posts

We prefer to pound posts for speed and strength of the set of the post.  When circumstances or conditions require, we have tractor-pulled and hand-pulled augurs to drill holes to set posts, followed by tamping.

Conservation areas may require hand auguring if no equipment is permitted in the conservation area.  Soil conditions may require tractor-pulled or hand-pulled auguring.  Whenever possible, we pound posts to control the speed of installation and the cost to our clients.
